Bollywood actress finds her role model in Hina Rabbani Khar for upcoming role

Pakistan’s youngest and first female foreign minister Hina Rabbani Khar was often in the news for her commendable sense of style. But little did we know that she will go on to inspire a Bollywood character.

Bollywood actor Divya Dutt has confirmed that she is channeling former foreign minister Hina Rabbani Khar in her new movie Irada.

“Although it wasn’t deliberate, the look is really attractive and yes, has similarities to the way Hina dressed and conducted herself,” Dutt said.

The actor said that she received a lot of positive feedback for her look which is reminiscent of Khar. “When I landed on set in the getup many commented on how I looked like Hina and we decided to keep the look since the reactions were so positive.”

Khar, who served in the government as Foreign Minister from 2011 to 2013, was noted for her sense of style, particularly when she made her first visit to India in 2011.

Irada is thriller which also features Naseeruddin Shah and Arshad Warsi. Dutt plays an Indian politician, Ramandeep and explains that her character is a Punjabi woman of grit and determination who is alternatively loud and subtle.

“It didn’t require much prep because the directors Aparna Singh and Nishant Tripathi, knew exactly what they wanted. I simply followed their vision,” she said.
