A 4-member high level committee has been constituted for activation of school councils. The committee will present its recommendations regarding members, duties and powers of school councils to Provincial Minister for Education Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan within three days.
The provincial minister for education also constituted committees for bringing changes in transfer policy of teachers, transport policy for movement of teachers to educational institutions and preparation of nutrition policy for children of schools. He said that in accordance with the vision of Chief Minister Punjab Shehbaz Sharif, schools education department has been made an effective source of equipping every child of new generation with education.
Rana Mashood Ahmed Khan was presiding over a meeting regarding effective implementation on reforms in Schools Education Department, here today. Heads of PEEF, Punjab Textbook & Curriculum Board, PMIU and DSD besides Special Secretary Schools Education were present on the occasion.
Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan told the participants that the graph of performance of educational institutions can be raised by strengthening and activating school councils institution. He said that besides other members, philanthropists should also be given representation in school councils. Special Secretary Schools Education informed about the progress regarding educational reforms so far. The Minister directed concerned officials to provide up to date facts and figures regarding number of private schools, educational facilities and number of teachers throughout the province. He said that best educational model has been prepared with the help of available resources regarding classrooms, teachers and required educational facilities in government schools. He said that educational model of Punjab has been declared one of the best emerging models of the world in world educational conference in Britain. Proposals were presented for further improving the performance of the department and detailed discussion was held upon them. The Minister said that meeting of all subsidiary institutions of education department will be held regularly in future.
