Baloch’s close aide reveals political patronage behind Lyari gang wars

Commander of one of Lyari’s gangs, Uzair Baloch’s close aide, Nouman Siddique, revealed during investigation on Saturday that Lyari’s gang wars had been working in the area under political patronage.

The accused, Nouman Siddique, during interrogation said that youths were recruited in the criminal gangs. Since the start of a targeted operation in Karachi in 2013, some criminals had taken refuge in Balochistan and Dubai, he added.

Youths were used for collection of extortion money and target killings in the city, he said. Sources privy to law enforcement agency stated that the culprit used to assist Uzair Baloch in different affairs. Baloch, the chief of the banned People’s Aman Committee (PAC), fled to Dubai in 2013 after Rangers launched operation in the metropolis.

The suspect has been blamed for running a network involved in criminal activities including killings, extortion, kidnapping for ransom and drugs business.
