The President House has taken notice of illegal promotions of two professors at Quaid-e-Azam University and sought a report.

The report was asked for after the top regulatory body raised objections to the promotions of the two academics.

Source in the Higher Education Commission (HEC) told Online that Quaid-e-Azam University’s Vice Chancellor Dr Javed Ashraf allegedly promoted two professors, Dr. Asif and Dr Waheed Chaudhry of mathematics department in violation of rules and regulations set by the HEC. According to the sources, the vice-chancellor also benefited the two professors with Rs2.5 million and Rs3 million respectively after they were promoted.

When HEC Dr Mukhtar Ahmed objected to the promotions at a meeting of QAU’s syndicate members and was grilled, the QAU vice chancellor passed the buck on the Academic Staff Association saying that the professors forcibly got their demands fulfilled as Dr Asif was also the president of the association.

When contacted, Dr Asif denied that they have been promoted under any whim and claimed that the promotions were made as per rules and regulations.“We don’t accept the decision of HEC chairman,” he said.
