Awami Muslim League (AML) President Sheikh Rashid Ahmad on Thursday said that it is the last chance for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan to come out on the streets and force the ouster of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif from office.

Talking to Pakistan Today Editor Arif Nizami in his talkshow DNA on Channel 24, Rashid said “Imran Khan has the ability to pull the crowd for street agitation and he can also seek the support of Jamaat-e-Islami and Tahirul Qadri in this movement,” the veteran politician said.

Talking about Prime Minister Nawaz’s likely successor in case he is forced to resign under pressure of the Panama Papers scandal, Rashid said Nawaz’s wife Kalsoom Nazwaz may replace her husband in the coveted office of PM.

“She is Nawaz’s confidant and also has ample experience in running the affairs of the party,” he said. He added that it was surprising that Nawaz’s younder brother, Shehbaz Sharif, had not once spoken in defence of his brother’s family since the news of the Panama Leaks broke out in media.

According to Rashid, the government has lost its moral standing to continue in office as the names of the PM’s children featured in the scandal.

“In an informal conversation between Nawaz Sharif and Asif Ali Zardari, it was decided that Dr Asim would be released in days to come and NAB would be restrained from operating against PPP leaders in Sindh,” he claimed.
