Inzamam to be PCB’s next chief selector

On Friday, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has offered to former Captain and current Afghanistan Coach Inzamam ul Haq for Chief Selector position.

According to local media report, Inzamam is yet to make a decision on this and has asked PCB to give him some time so that he can analyze the situation before taking this massive step.

Inzamam is considered to be one of the greatest players of all time. Pakistan has ever produced and his services for Pakistan are hidden from no one.

Recently, Afghanistan team concluded World T20 in India his side defeated the to-be champions West Indies in the group stage match. He is currently serving as the coach of the Afghanistan cricket team. As per report, Afghanistan Cricket Board has said that their coach was still in contract with them.

Inzamam ul Haq was a part of the winning squad that brought the 1992 World Cup under Imran Khan’s leadership. He continued to play for Pakistan and proved himself to be a valuable asset until his retirement.

On Friday, Waqar took to Twitter to voice his approval for Inzamam.

“Hearing Inzamam coming as chief selector. V good news. Glad PCB now listening to my 2015 recommendations. #BetterLateThanNever,” Waqar said.

Inzamam, who is on a two-year contract with Afghanistan which ends in 2017, is believed to be considering the offer but it is unclear he would sever his deal with team which displayed great promise at the 2016 World T20.

Some reports suggest that Inzamam could also be offered the position of interim coach, and former wicketkeeper Rashid Latif the post of chief selector.

But Waqar said it would be unwise to put in stop gap solutions.

“Bad decision to consider interim coach. Still have plenty of time b4 Eng Tour. Need vision for future planning #PlanAhead,” Waqar tweeted.
