Gulmohur City

There is a great need to reduce the ratio of heat in the hot summer of Karachi city, when the temperature of coastal city reaches its highest level for sometimes in the month of May and July, which is unbearable for senior citizen and children as well.

Trees are a source of defence against heat and can be a great source for reducing the temperature. Growing more and more trees would be a helpful effort for reducing the heat temperature.

I personally support the idea of growing Gulmohur Trees on a vast ground throughout the city. These colourful and beautiful trees can enhance the beauty of the city as well as reduce the heat also.

The Gulmohur is a strikingly beautiful flowering tree. It has been widely planted elsewhere in frost-free regions for its red to orange flowers and its shade. It is a rapid grower, attaining a height of six to 12 metres with naturally divided (i.e., resembling a feather) leaves 30 to 60 centimetres long.

I suggest that all residents who have the space for it should plant Gulmohur trees outside their homes, at empty places and green strips side by side with the government’s efforts for its rapid growing.

The Gulmohur can give a beautiful face to our city.
