Ebad praises Pak-UK relations

Sindh Governor Dr Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan has said that the United Kingdom is one of the oldest friends of Pakistan and this friendship is based on mutual trust and understanding.

He said this while addressing at a reception held in connection with 90th birthday of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth. British High Commissioner Mr Thomas Drew and British Deputy High Commissioner Mr John Tucknott were also present.

The governor said that while diplomatic and trade ties between the two countries were ever growing, the foundation of the relationship was underpinned by the warmth of people-to-people links and mutual respect. Dr Ebad said that bilateral trade and investment association among UK and Pakistan was also of great significance. Over 100 UK businesses had established a physical presence here and hundreds of more trade in goods and services through local distributors, he added.

He said due to ongoing operations against criminals there was very conducive atmosphere of investment prevailing in Karachi and as such British investors should avail this opportunity to enhance their businesses and investment portfolio.

The governor hailed establishment of British Business Centre and said it would help in enhancing trade ties between the two countries by facilitating British investors to choose financing in field of their preference.

He lauded the role played by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth in promoting ties between the UK and Pakistan. He also extended his felicitations to Queen on her 90th birthday.
