CM lionises Chinese investment in OLMT

Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that Lahore Orange Line Metro Train project is a splendid gift of China for people of Pakistan and hundred per cent investment in this project has been made by China.

He said that latest and comfortable transport facilities will become available to common man through Orange Line Metro Train. He said that unfortunately, a handful of elites are opposing this project of common man for personal interests. He said that this group of elites is unhappy over provision of modern transport facilities to the poor people. He expressed hope that the judiciary will give decision on merit. He said the elites will not be allowed to create hurdles in this splendid project of modern transport system for common man.

The chief minister appealed to media and public to support the Orange Line Metro Train project and supplement government efforts for its early completion in order to get rid of dilapidated rickshaws, qingqi rickshaws and banged up wagons. He said that China has proved its friendship with Pakistan by giving investment package of $46 billion as well as the gift of Orange Line Metro Train Project for the progress and prosperity of Pakistan and now it is our responsibility to benefit from these opportunities.

The chief minister said that China has provided a strong foundation of progress and prosperity in Pakistan and now Pakistani investors and businesspersons should come forward to benefit from this great opportunity. He said that cooperation between Punjab and the Chinese province of Shandong is continuing. However, bilateral economic contacts will further be promoted. He said that Punjab and Shandong can become great partners in this journey of progress and prosperity.

He expressed these views while addressing the inaugural session of Punjab Shandong Business Forum under the aegis of Punjab Investment Board at a local hotel on Thursday. Punjab government and Shandong province signed two agreements for increasing bilateral cooperation while six MoUs were signed for collaboration among private sector of both the provinces.

Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Shandong Vice Governor Xia Geng signed the agreements. Under the framework agreement, Shandong province will cooperate in setting up an industrial park in Punjab. Under the agreements, cooperation will be enhanced in agriculture, livestock and dairy, energy, mining, infrastructure, health, education, information technology, manufacturing, economic and industrial zone development, trade of goods and services, tourism, banking and financial sectors. Private sector will also be encouraged for increasing investment and expanding trade relations. Besides, trade seminars will be held and trade delegations will be exchanged.
