The Supreme Court Thursday conditionally accepted to remove the name of Chief Executive Evernew Advertisement Inam Akbar from the Exist Control List (ECL).

The court directed Inam Akbar to submit Rs 10 million surety bonds to travel abroad for two weeks.

The three-member bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali and comprising Justice Amir Hani Muslim and Justice Iqbal Hameedur Rehman heard the case.

During the course of proceedings, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) prosecutor pleaded the court that NAB was investigating the matter so the accused should not be allowed to travel abroad. He said that Sindh Ministry of Information released funds to Evernew Advertisements and other companies without fulfilling the legal requirements.

He said that Sharjeel Memon main accused in the case was in abroad and investigation against him was in progress.

Justice Amir Hani Muslim asked the NAB prosecutor that what action was taken against Sharjeel Memon.

On this, the NAB prosecutor told that the bureau had put his name on ECL but he was absconder in the case.

Justice Hani remarked that NAB was formed to investigate mega scams as different institutes were working to investigate small scams.

The NAB official said that Inam Akbar had withdrawn all amount from the account and there was not a single penny in his account. The court directed the NAB to investigate the advertisement scam in two months and also sought report in this regard.
