Actor Sonam Kapoor says that she doesn’t do multiple films simultaneously because she finds it tough to focus on multiple projects.
“I never shoot two different characters at the same time. I know a lot of people who do that, but I can’t. In my career so far, I have just done 11 full-fledged roles. That’s like one film and a quarter every year, which is very less. Usually, girls do four to five films a year, but I can’t do too much work at a time,” says Sonam.
The 30-year-old actor adds that she avoids picking up similar roles, just for the sake of versatility. “I don’t like to do the same thing twice. Since my last film was Neerja, I won’t take on another drama. I am here to hone my craft and want to do something different,” she says.
Sonam not only wants to do different films, she also wants to change her acting style. “I am a little self-destructive. I put myself through too much to get something across while acting. I need to be a little less raw. Over the years, you learn to preserve your energy. I like the idea of method acting and that’s not the best for your health. I need to find another way,” she says.
Sonam adds that she loves being an actor, except when it comes to promoting a film. “During promotions, you are constantly putting yourself out there. It is also a time when you are constantly defending yourself. It’s heartbreaking. I don’t resent promotions, but that doesn’t mean it’s not difficult,” she says.
