The Supreme Court (SC) has sought details from the government about facilities in medical colleges in the case of 90 deaths in Punjab Institute of Cardiology and adjourned the hearing of the case for two weeks.
A 3-member bench headed by Justice Mian Saqib Nisar took up the case for hearing Tuesday.
Deputy Advocate General (DAG) Zikriya Sheikh and PMDC authorities appeared in the court.
PMDC authorities told the court that a 500-bed hospital is mandatory with a medical college. There are 20 medical colleges in Lahore.
Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed remarked “If there are 20 medical colleges then there should be hospitals therein. But Lahore where I live there are no such hospitals existing.”
The court while summoning details about facilities in medical colleges adjourned the hearing of the case for two weeks.
