The Islamabad police after exchange of fire arrested a car lifter wanted by police in several auto-theft cases and recovered a stolen car from possession while his two accomplices managed to escape on Tuesday.
A spokesperson of Islamabad Police said that Special Investigation Unit (SIU) and Anti-Car Lifting Cell (ACLC) of Islamabad police over directives of SP (Investigation) Muhammad Ilyas to ensure arrests of those involved in car lifting incidents, constituted special teams including In-Charge ACLC Inspector Rukhsar Mehdi, ASIs Habib Ullah and Nur Ullah for high vigilance and checking of suspected vehicles at various points.
One of the team signaled to stop a car (MH-638) at police picket in Shamas police station following which car occupants started firing on the policemen. Police team retaliated and managed to arrest one of the car occupants identified as Abdullah, a resident of Tarnab District Charsadda while his two other accomplices managed to escape under cover of firing.
During the preliminary investigation from the nabbed person, he told about the identification of absconding persons as Qazi Samad Khan s/o Qazi Ammad ul Mallok, Faiz ur Rehman s/o Pervez Khan residents of Khan Kale Tehsil Mardan.
The nabbed person confessed to take away four cars from areas of Loi Bher and Koral police station while nine cars were stolen by them from jurisdiction of New Town police station Rawalpindi. Police have started the efforts to arrest the absconding criminals. SSP Islamabad Sajid Kiani has appreciated this performance and directed for special efforts to completely check activities of car thieves.
