Police personnel on Tuesday have sought two gunship helicopters for aerial operation against Chotu gang in Rajanpur.
Operation conducted against Chotu Gang has entered its tenth day while the Rangers and police personnel have made special ships to advance towards Kacha Moro, Kacha Jamal 1 and Kacha Jamal 2.
However, 1,600 personnel belonging to Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), Rangers, army and Punjab police have cleared around 70 percent Kacha area while more than 50 check posts have been established.
Regional Police Officer (RPO) Bhawalpur and Dera Ghazi Khan, District Police Officer (DPO) Rahim Yar Khan and Rajanpur are also participating in the operation to encourage security officials.
On the other hand, a control room has also been formed in Rahim Yar Khan whereas Inspector General (IG) Punjab is frequently inspecting all the activities.
A helipad was also established in the area.
More than 160 dacoits and miscreants backed by terror outfits and anti-state elements have been copped so far in security operation in Kacha Jamal area.
Earlier, few extremists were caught in possession of Indian weapons. Members of notorious Chotu gang are among the felons fighting the security personnel.
The arrests were made on leaks given by Research and Analysis Wing’s (RAW) spy who was arrested from Balochistan around two weeks ago.
Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Shahbaz Sharif had extended a request to the Pakistan Army to provide helicopters for assistance. Chotu had managed to cross a police cordon around one of the islands adjacent to Indus River.
The gang killed a policeman while kept not less than eight hostages including three locals and eight police personnel. Police had launched an operation which continued for more than 22 days against them but in vain.
While keeping in view the security and survival of the area people, IG Punjab had ordered security forces to launch an operation against the aforesaid gangs for restoration of peace and tranquility in the region.
