Death toll in rain-related incidents in KP rises to 90

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the death toll in rain related incidents has risen to 90.

According to the latest report of PDMA KP, 37 people died in Kohistan, 17 in Shangla, 13 in Swat and six in Upper Dir.

Three died in Mardan and two each in Bannu, Batagram, Chitral and Lower Dir. Similarly, one person each died in Abbottabad, Buner Charsadda, Malakand, Mansehra and Peshawar.

61 people were also injured in different districts.

The rains also destroyed 233 houses and partially damaged 669 others.

Meanwhile, distribution of compensation cheques among rain and land-slides affectees of district Shangla and Kohistan began today.

Rs.300,000 is being given to heirs of the dead. Rs.100,000 each will be given to the critically injured and 50,000 to the ones with minor injuries.

Owners of completely damaged houses will get Rs.100,000 while those of partially damaged will get 50,000.

The engineers of Frontier Works Organization are in the process to open Shangla-Basham Road, which was blocked at Karora due to land sliding.
