Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has felicitated the entire Pakistani nation on the 43rd anniversary of the country’s first unanimous 1973 constitution architected by first elected prime minister Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.

“People and the national institutions of Pakistan are grateful to architects of the 1973 constitution which protected the sovereignty and integrity of the country after suffering worst debacle inflicted by the dictatorial regimes on the nation,” he said in a statement.

Bilawal said the 1973 constitution strengthened the unity of Pakistani nation and groomed into a vibrant Muslim model country but the dictatorial regimes later defaced the constitution and sowed the seeds of ethnic, sectarian and religious hatred to tear apart the fabric of federation and promote dictatorial forces to hit the very roots of the nation.

The PPP chairman appreciated the bold and brave approach of former president Asif Ali Zardari and the government led by him for transferring his own powers as president to the Parliament and restoring the 1973 constitution to its original form.

He said the 1973 constitution was a strong and binding document of national unity which was a greatest weapon against the forces of disintegration who wanted to rip apart their society in the name of different ethnic, sectarian and religious grounds.

Bilawal Bhutto paid tribute to the architects of 1973 constitution and those who restored it to its original shape under the leadership of former president Asif Ali Zardari.
