Waqar Younis pens deal with Indian channel for IPL

Former Pakistan head coach Waqar Younis has signed a deal with Indian TV channel Sony to cover the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL).

The tournament which is set to begin from April 9, will feature nine teams from different parts of the country, and will consist of 60 matches over the period of  50 days.

ESPN Cricinfo Pakistan correspondent Umar Farooq took to Twitter to announce the former head coach’s deal with Sony. Later, Younis’s wife confirmed the development.

The 44-year-old was forced to resign by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in the aftermath of poor performances in the Asia Cup and Word T20, where the Men in Green managed to win three of eight matches.

Waqar has represented Pakistan in 87 Tests and 262 ODIs, where he collectively picked 789 international wickets for Pakistan.
