The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has sought a reply within two weeks from the chairman of Higher Education Commission (HEC), ministry of CADD, chairman Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education and others in a case challenging the teachings of a sociology book in Pakistan’s curriculum which contains defamatory material against Baloch.

When IHC Judge Athar Minallah took up the case for hearing on Thursday, Yasir Mehmood counsel for petitioner Jahangir Aslam Baloch pleaded that the Baloch have been shown as an uncivilised nation in the sociology book which is being taught at intermediate and bachelor’s level.

“It has been attempted to prove Baloch as savaged who engage in clashes and bloodshed,” the petitioner’s counsel said requesting the court to issue orders to take off the book from syllabus and impose a ban on its purchase and sale unless the controversial material is erased.
