A magisterial court on Wednesday issued non-bailable arrest warrants of Sarfraz Merchant who had returned two days ago to record his statement to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in Altaf Hussain’s money laundering case.

Merchant is a suspect in money laundering case against the MQM chief. The judicial magistrate South heard a fraud case against Merchant and ordered authorities concerned to produce him before the court on April 21.

A case was registered against Merchant with Darakhshan Police Station. The challan filed by the police writes Merchant a fugitive. The complainant in the said case has alleged Merchant of threatening to file a bogus case, receiving Rs 12 crore and snatching his car on March 12, 2014. On Monday, Merchant reached Islamabad to record his statement to the Federal Investigation Agency against Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Chief Altaf Hussain in money laundering case. His statement will become a part of additional first information report (FIR) while founder of Pak Sar Zameen Party (PSP) Mustafa Kamal will also record his statement to the FIA within a few days. Sources stated that foolproof security had been ensured for Merchant’s stay in Pakistan.

  1. Mr Merchant is a British citizen and has come to help the authorities in the much talked about Money-launderying case and to provide evidence. Is it not an irony that he has been issued 'non-bailable warrats' engieneered by the ethnic party of Karachi ?
