A foreign student at Nishtar Medical Institute (NMI) allegedly attempted to commit suicide after failing in two subjects on Monday.
According to Nishtar sources, Juma Yousaf, who hails from Somalia, and is studying in final year of MBBS at NMI attempted to commit suicide by jumping from the top floor of the Raazi Hall hostel of the institute. He sustained serious injuries and was shifted to the ICU of NMI where his condition was stated to be critical.
The student sustained backbone injuries, the sources added.
However, his fellows said that he was taking call of someone on his mobile while standing on the top floor of the hostel when he suddenly fell.
