16 die as torrential rains wreak havoc in KP

At least 16 people were killed in rain-related incidents across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

According to details, the torrential rains in KP have inundated several villages in Ghazi Garhi while 40-canal agricultural land devastated due to ongoing downpours.
Separately, a nine-year-old boy Abdullah was dead in roof collapse mishap in Shabqadar while his mother and 11-year-old brother Faizan Ullah sustained severe wounds.

On the other hand, a woman and a minor drowned in storm drain in Swat while land sliding blocked Korakaram Highway at different points, stranding dozens of passengers at several places.

Another killed as roof of a house caved in Kohistan whereas continuous rains in Chilas affected land links to other parts of the province.
However, the electricity system was also completely demolished in the rain-affected areas.

Further, the bridge linking Peshawar and Sheikhan submerged, suspending land contact from other areas whereas as many as 30 shops also inundated.

No machinery from government has been sent to the rain-hit areas for the rescue of the people.

Earlier, at least 79 people were killed and 101 were injured as torrential rains continued to play havoc in Pakistan last month.

The authority said as many as ten persons were killed in Punjab, 19 in Baluchistan, 10 in Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa and 22 in Fata. 240 houses were damaged due to rain-related incidents, landslides and avalanches in different parts of the country. These include 50 houses in Balochistan, 77 in KP, 36 in Fata, four in Punjab and 73 in Azaad Jammu and Kashmir.
