No convenience without inconvenience

Infrastructure development has a cost that its people have to pay in order to get the fruitful results in the future. People belonging to different segments of life are complaining these days about the on-going construction of Orange Line Metro Train. They complain that they have to face inconvenience and traffic problem. But if we must and we should think sensibly as a responsible nation then we would understand that mega projects like OLMT cannot be completed overnight. It would take some time for the completion. We have to be patient to see the results first before criticizing any project. The number of commuters will be 250,000 in the beginning and will increase to 500,000 in the future which is a huge sum. Keeping in mind this figure, it won’t be difficult to bear the difficulties now as it will benefit the common man especially the unprivileged members of the society.

Many people commute at the very same moment in developed countries like England, America, India etc. Government of Punjab is taking steps to set an example for other provinces by introducing projects like Orange Line Metro Train which would provide the transportation system free from environmental pollution. People will get rid of wagons.

The route will begin from Ali Town to Thokar Niaz Baig, Multan Road, Canal view, Hunjarwaal, Wahadat Road, Aiwan Town, Sabzazar, Shahnoor Studio, Bandh Road, Samanabad, Gulshan e Ravi, Chauberji, Lake Road, GPO, Lakshmi Chowk, Maclode Road, Railway Station, Sultan pura, UET, Baghbanpura, Shalamar Bagh, Pakistan Mint, Mehmood booti, Salamat pura, Islam Park to Dera Gujran. The interesting thing about Orange Line Metro Train is this that it passes through the remotest areas which clearly shows the motivation and dedication of the government for the not-so-privileged segment of the society. Beneficiaries of this project will be middle class and lower middle class. This gives us hope for the better and prosperous future.

  1. Unfortunately the writer completely neglects the undercurrents of such 'Mega Projects'. Now if we were to be a developed nation with an above average health care 'infrastructure' and clean drinking water with a proper education 'infrastructure', we wouldn't be arguing about priorities at all. For the writer and so many biased alike, to lend their pen, speak for and represent the lower downtrodden classes without any insight is dismaying. One would expect better from the editors here, but oh well!

  2. Transportation is not in a state of emergency like health & education department. Orange line could be delayed as Mtero bus has been recently launched, if there is dire need number of buses can be increased to meet the needs but Govt's priorities are to show something to nation to get immediate attraction.
