State Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Shaikh Aftab Ahmed said on Friday that approval had been sought from Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for recruiting motorway and highway police before completion of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and Islamabad to Karachi motorway.
More police would be required to take care of CPEC and the motorway sections being constructed between Islamabad and Karachi on their completion.
The minister was talking to media after presiding over a meeting in Post Master General’s office to review post office affairs.
He said Pakistan Post Office (PPO) was an important organisation of not only Pakistan but also of the sub-continent.
The federal government was making its best efforts to modernise and make the post office an efficient delivery network. The PPO needed more reforms to make it a profitable organization, he added.
He said the present government led by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was revamping organisations/institutions. It had put the country on the path to prosperity and development, he added.
He informed that best communication system was being established in the country. Earlier, Deputy Post Master General Karachi, Mustafa Kamal, briefed the minister on the PPO activities and its future projects.
