Main accused of toxic liquor incident arrested after encounter

Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP) Hyderabad, Khadim Hussain Rind, said on Thursday that main accused of toxic liquor incident of Tando Mohammad Khan, Ali Nawaz Panwhar, had been arrested after an encounter.

Addressing a press conference, the DIG Hyderabad and SSP Tando Mohammad Khan Ghulam Shabir Sethar informed the media that police launched an operation on a tip off and nabbed the main accused of the liquor incident.

He said when police raided the hideout of accused; he started firing on the police party and tried to escape on motorcycle. After exchange of fire, Ali Nawaz Panhwar was arrested in injured condition and a pistol, live rounds and a motorbike were recovered from his possession.

The accused was shifted to Civil Hospital Hyderabad for treatment due to critical condition, he added.

The DIG announced reward of half a million rupees on the behalf of IGP to police party who carried out the operation successfully. Responding to a question regarding involvement of police personnel, the DIG said that investigation in this regard had been started and if any police official found guilty he would be dealt with sternly as per law. He said that police personnel who patronise narcotics dens would not be spared. The DIG said that a facilitation center would also be set up in Tando Muhammad Khan to extend assistance to complainants, particularly women and minor victims of crimes.
