‘Karachi operation launched against MQM’

The Coordination Committee of Muttahida Qaumi Movement said that state operation against their party was intensified through arbitrary arrests of workers and supporters after the failure of a grand conspiracy.

In a statement, the Coordination Committee said that the National Action Plan was devised to carry out an operation against the jet black terrorists and their facilitators. But it was evident that the Karachi operation was purely against the MQM to malign it in national politics, he added.

The committee said that the Rangers in plainclothes and police personnel were continuously arresting MQM’s senior workers and office-bearers. It said during this period at least 4,000 MQM workers were arrested and almost 1,000 among them were detained while 155 workers were still missing.

It said during the month of March 90 MQM workers, including MQM Deputy Convener Syed Shahid Pasha, were arrested and some of them were detained at unknown places. It said the criminal elements were executing their plan against the Karachiites in the guise of gang war.

The coordination committee demanded to stop the arbitrary arrests of political workers and release the detainees immediately.
