Sarfraz Ahmad to replace Shahid Afridi as T20 captain

A fact-finding committee on Friday suggested to pick star player Sarfraz Ahmad as new T20 captain but the announcement can face delay.
The board has decided to not extend Head Coach Waqar Younis’ contract which is due to expire in May while Mohsin Hasan Khan as Chief Selector and Aaqib Javed as coach are likely to be appointed.
The committee, headed by Shakil Sheikh and members Iqbal Qasim and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief operating officer Subhan Ahmad, is all set to submit final report on Pakistan’s dismissal performance in World Twenty20 to PCB Chairman Shahryar Khan today.
The report has also mentioned names of the people involved in ineffective decision making during both Asia Cup and World T20.

Earlier, Afridi recorded his stance via telephone as he was unable to present before the investigating committee due to his daughter’s illness.The captain admitted poor performance in WT20.


“Players fully cooperated in WT20 while team meetings were not held without me”, said Afridi.
On the other hand, Waqar alleged that star batsman Mohammad Hafeez kept secret his injury before World Twenty20 while the coach revealed that some players in the squad were not ready to co-operate with the coaching staff. He said they were also not able to implement the game plan given by the coach.

“If my leaving makes things better, then I would do it without delay,” he said.
Pakistan were knocked out of the World T20 after failing to qualify for the semi-finals as they lost three out of their four group matches.
They only managed to win two matches in the Asia Cup.
