Police have arrested 150 protestors allegedly involved in violence and sit-in at D-chowk on Thursday while the court has announced 14-day judicial remand and has sent the strikers to jail.
150 protestors have been taken into custody after violent protest and sit-in at D-chowk. The case against the protestors was summoned by judicial magistrates including Haider Ali Shah, Naseer-uddin and Adnan Jamali.
The protestors were brought to the court but due to lack of space the hearing was preceded in the prisoner’s waiting area. During the hearing of the case, heavy contingent of police had surrounded the waiting area while the protestors chanted slogans.
The police pleaded to send the accused demonstrators to jail for judicial remand and stated that provision applied on the protestors are non-bailable. The court approved the police plea and ordered to jail the strikers with 14-day judicial remand. Police station secretariat, I-9 and Kohsar have filed 4 cases against the protestors.
