Armed robbers gunned down a youth upon resistance and fled from the scene of crime here on Wednesday.
Police said that 24-year-old Ali Raza was on his way to take breakfast in hotel in Islampura area of the provincial capital when two armed robbers tried to snatch mobile and cash from him.
Upon resistance, the robbers opened straight fire killing him on the spot and fled after snatching mobile and cash.
The heirs of the deceased and dwellers of the area held protest demonstration with the body and demanded to bring the culprits to book. The protesters dispersed peacefully after police officials assured to trace and arrest the murderers.
Meanwhile, the police after registering a case into the incident at respective police stations have started an investigation.
Robber killed in Kasur police encounter:
Meanwhile, a suspected robber was killed while his accomplices managed to flee after exchange of fire with Kasur police on Wednesday.
The police approached a gang of robber which was fleeing after committing a robbery in Phoolnagar area of district Kasur. Upon sight of police, the robbers opened fire at the police and tried to escape.
In retaliatory firing of police, one robber was killed while his eight cohorts managed to flee with the looted valuables.
