Pakistan seeks information on RAW agent’s activities from Iran

Pakistan seeks information on Indian Intelligence agency Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) network from Iran, in a two-page reference handed over to Iranian ambassador Mehdi Honardoost, on Thursday.

According to Interior Ministry sources, the authorities have urged Iran to take notice of anti-Pakistan activities and demanded immediate arrest of apprehended Indian officer Kulbhushan Yadav’s associate namely Rakesh alias Rizwan who is believed to be hiding in Iran.

The government has also sought a record of Yadav’s activities including details of his business and meetings in Iran, sources told.

The move comes two days after Pakistan released Indian spy Kulbhushan Yadav’s confessional video in which he was shown owning up to clandestine activities in Balochistan province.

The video was aired during a joint press conference by Information Minister Pervez Rasheed and Army spokesman Lieutenant General Asim Saleem Bajwa in Islamabad.

The video showed Kulbhushan Yadav saying he is a serving naval officer; he joined the intelligence services in 2003 and has been running a spy operation in Balochistan from Iran with the aim of instigating terrorist incidents.

Yadav, who hails from Mumbai, said he had joined India’s National Defence Academy in 1987 before going on to join the Indian Navy in 1991.
