Policeman deployed at ‘president’s residence’ killed

Unidentified gunmen on Tuesday shot a police official dead in Liaquatabad area of Karachi, officials said.

The deputy inspector general (DIG), West police, told media that Zahid Hussain was an official of special security unit of the police. He said the deceased was a part of security team deployed at the residence of President Mamnoon Hussain.

His body was shifted to a hospital for medico-legal formalities.

Moreover, the police have arrested six suspects including an aide of Lyari gangster Uzair Baloch during raids in different parts of the city after the Sindh Rangers director general and chief minister renewed their resolve to continue the on-going Karachi operation till elimination of terrorism. Meanwhile, a youth, Muhammad Arshad, 23, son of M Iqbal, resident of Landhi area, was critically injured in unknown gunmen’s firing near Sherpao Colony in Landhi. The injured was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center (JPMC) for treatment. Similarly, a 25-year-old man, Tanveer, son of Muneer Hussain, was shot at and injured by unknown armed men near Naz Plaza on MA Jinnah Road. He was moved to Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) for medical assistance.
