The State Department spokesman John Kirby while briefing the newsmen in Washington on Monday said that US condemn in the strongest terms the appalling terrorist attack in the Gulshan-e-Iqbal Park in Lahore that killed dozens and left scores injured.
He said that the United States stands with the people and government of Pakistan at this very difficult hour and we send our deepest condolences to the loved ones of those killed, and of course, to all those injured we are praying for a speedy recovery.
The spokesman further said that attacks like these only deepen our shared resolve to defeat terrorism around the world, and we’re going to continue to work with our partners in Pakistan and across the region to combat the threat of terrorism.
Answering a question, John Kirby said that there is no doubt that Pakistan continues to be under threat from terrorists and added that innocent Pakistanis are suffering at the hands of terrorists.
He said that nothing’s changed about our commitment to do what we can to help them deal with this threat and added that it’s not just a Pakistani threat. It’s a regional threat; it’s a global threat in many ways. So we stand by the people of Pakistan right now and we also stand by our commitment to assist Pakistan going forward.
