Terrorist involved in Shuja Khanzada murder case arrested

Personnel of law enforcement agencies on Tuesday have arrested key terrorist during raids in parts of Punjab.

Sources told that the detained militant was involved in an attack on Punjab Home Minister Shuja Khanzada and has contacts with outlawed organization.

The police said that more information regarding the suspect is being collected and search operations to nab his accomplices are also in action.

The arrested criminal has been shifted to some undisclosed place for further investigation.

Earlier, security departments had arrested another key suspect from Attock district. Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) spokesperson told the suspected terrorist identified as Qasim Muawiya was tracked through mobile data.

He was presented in the anti-terrorism court (ATC) where the court sent him on physical remand.

On August 16, Shuja Khanzada and 16 others were killed in a suicide blast in the village of Shadi Khan in Attock district. The minister was visiting to condole with people over his cousin’s death and decided to stay a little longer at his Dera in his native Shadi Khan village when the terrorists struck.

Following the explosion – believed to be suicide blast – roof of the premises collapsed and several people including Khanzada were trapped in the rubble. Eye witnesses say Khanzada passed away shortly after.

The attack was masterminded by a local Tehreek-e-Taliban commander namely Qari Sohail. Other facilitators have been identified as Zaheer alias Talha and Imran Sattar.
