Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Tuesday stated that only depoliticised institutions enable the country to move forward and in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa all the institutions have been depoliticised.

Talking to reporters after inaugurating the upgraded schools in Abbottabad, Imran Khan said that real change could be brought through eliminating political interference at all levels in the educational sector.

He said the Prime Minister had announced to release four billion for reconstruction of quake-hit schools but failed to fulfil his promise.

He said the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa finally took responsibility of reconstructing these schools and it is investing Rs8 billion on the project.

Imran Khan claimed that out of thousands of schools in KP, only 5% lack proper infrastructure now.

Criticising the PML-N govt’s Orange Line train project in Lahore, Khan asked: “How do we justify Rs200 billion on one train when 8 billion can build 760 schools?”

He said 50% of our population is under 30 and the main premise of progress needs to be education, not trains.

Imran Khan further asserted that 2500 schools destroyed in the province and the provincial authorities are working on 760 but this was federal government’s responsibility.

He claimed that 25,000 teachers were recruited through NTS. There is no Nepotism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
