Former Pakistan cricketer and TV commentator Wasim Akram was on Sunday witness to an attack on the camera crew that was part of his live telecast for news channel, Aaj Tak.
Akram was commenting on Virat Kohli’s performance during the T20 World Cup match against Australia, when, according to the footage available, a group of people attempted to stop the broadcast. The incident took place in Mumbai at around 11.05 pm.
A video of the incident released online shows the man rudely confronting Akram and the camera crew, forcing the cricket legend to halt his analysis and get up from his seat.
The channel’s Sports Editor Vikrant Gupta took to Twitter saying there wasn’t much to the incident.
He clarified that Akram was safe and that the scene had been created by “a drunkard” seeking attention on live cameras.

The identity and motive of the attacker were not clear, nor was any explanation given on how he managed to enter the studio where the recording was taking place.
Akram did not comment on the incident but retweeted Gupta’s Twitter post.
The incident drew criticism from many in Pakistan, including wicket-keeper Kamran Akmal.
