Rana urges youth to play role in country’s progress

Federal Minister for Defence Production and Science and Technology, Rana Tanveer Hussain on Sunday urged the youth to play their role in the progress and prosperity of the country by excelling in the fields of science and technology.

Addressing a meeting of Narowal-Narang community held here at Cosmopolitan Club, Bagh-e-Jinnah, he said the government was supporting the youth through various educational, skill, science and technology scholarship programmes.

He revealed that soon a COMSAT university would be established near Narang Manadi which would facilitate the youth of the area in getting education in the field of science and technology.

The minister said that several development projects for the area were under process including a link road from Kala Shah Kaku motorway to Lahore Ring Road, flyover at Kala Khatai Morh over Railway level crossing, Shahdara at new Kala Khatai Road, dualisation of Muridke-Narowal Road, and a state of the art hospital in Narang Mandi.

He assured the community members that the area would get a positive impact from China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects in future.

Rana Tanveer said that transportation and communication system played a significant role for the development of any area. He urged the Pakistan Railways to restore all closed trains at Lahore-Narowal-Sialkot section as the area badly needed that.

He also said that extension of train routes of long distance trains from Lahore to Narowal and Sialkot were need of time to link the deprived area with the other cities of the country.

He thanked Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif for approval of the Shahdara flyover and said this multipurpose flyover project would be helpful in ending traffic mess at Shahdara.

Earlier, the community workers gave a presentation regarding the issues of the area.

PML-N parliamentarian Rana Afzal Hussain and MPA Hassan Riaz were also present in the meeting.
