PC-I under consideration for 200 bedded General Hospital at Tarlai

A PC-I is under consideration of the government for construction of 200 bedded Islamabad General Hospital at Tarlai, aimed at ensuring more health facilities in rural areas of the federal capital.

A token fund of Rs. 10 million has already been allocated in the current Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) 2015-16 for the project which would have an estimated cost of Rs. 2722.56 million.

Ministry of Interior and Narcotics Control highlighted steps being taken by the government for establishment of hospitals and more health facilities in rural areas of Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) and said construction work is underway to establish more Basic Health Units (BHUs). These include construction of BHU at Tarnol and BHU at Kirpa.

The ministry said there is no major government hospital in rural areas of ICT. Presently, there are three rural health centres functioning under administrative control of Health Department, ICT to provide health facilities to the rural population.

These are Rural Health Centre Tarlai, Rural Health Centre Barakahu and Rural Health Centre Sihala.

It said besides 14 Basic Health Units are also functioning in rural areas of ICT and these are BHU Rawat, BHU Gagri, BHU Bukhar, BHU Bhimber Trar, BHU Sohan, BHU Jagiot, BHU Jhangi Syeddan, BHU Chirah, BHU Turmair, BHU Pind Begwal, BHU Phulgran, BHU Shahdara, BHU Gokina, and BHU Shah Allah Ditta.

In addition, one dispensary is also functioning at Model Town Hamak, Islamabad.
