Investigation data computerisation to revolutionise probe process

--

Computerisation of the data of Investigation Wing would revolutionise the investigation process, as now everyone will be able to get details of an investigation through a click of button, claimed DIG Investigation Sultan Ahmad Chaudhry here Sunday.

Talking to APP, he said the wing had computerised all FIRs, numbering about 86,000, registered in 2015 adding that investigation details of every case, registered in 2016, has been computerised.

He said it was for the first time in the history of the country that the investigation data had been computerised and centralised through a server. The project has unanimously been supported by every police officer. Officers who designed the software, Polcom, and worked practically for computerisation of the data deserved praise and appreciation, he said.

The wing has uploaded a crime scene graphical description, consisting of details of the accused who were challaned and those of the proclaimed offenders.

A centralised database of the details of criminals and proclaimed offenders has been established for the first time under the criminal data management system. Earlier, the police department was solely dependent on National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) for database.

The computerisation of the data would help the officials in monitoring investigation as the status and details of any case would just be a click away.
