The Rawalpindi Waste Management Department has failed to clear Nullah Leh of waste and debris which could cause flooding during monsoon.
According to sources, a system installed to gauge flooding threats has not been functioning for many months and there was flooding in the low-lying areas along the nullah in the monsoon season.
The district government, TMOs and the RCB have taken no initiatives to clear the debris and industrial waste from 11 large and small locations along the nullah.
Several encroachments have also been made alongside the nullah areas including Javed Colony, Nadeem Colony, Gawalmandi, Amarpur, Dhok Rata, Dhok Hassu and other adjourning areas which may further aggravate the situation during the peak season.
Residents of the area have demanded that the authorities take notice of the issue and clear the dirt to avoid damage on a large scale.
