Iranian president pays tribute to Allama Iqbal

President of Iran Dr Hassan Rouhani Saturday paid rich tribute to the poet of east, Allama Muhammad Iqbal.

During a meeting with President Mamnoon Hussain, he said Allama Iqbal through his philosophy had rendered commendable services in philosophy, Shariah and other fields, which was a source of guidance for the whole world.

President Rouhani noted with appreciation that much of Allama Iqbal’s poetry was in the Persian language, said a press release.

He said that the work done by Allama Iqbal for awakening the society had no precedent in the world.

He declared Urdu and Persian languages as two branches of one tree.

Expressing pleasure over the Iranian President’s keen interest in the philosophy of Iqbal, President Mamnoon said that Iqbal was a universal poet, who had rendered invaluable services in the realm of literature.

The president noted that in Pakistan work of Sheikh Saadi Shirazi was also read with great interest and his books were also included in some religious Madrassahs. He himself had also studied these books, he added.
