The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Friday allowed the family members of deputy convener of Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s coordination committee, Syed Shahid Pasha, to meet him in Mitharam sub-jail.
Syed Shahid Pasha is currently in Rangers 90-day preventive detention over his alleged involvement in the offences falling within the ambit of Anti-Terrorism Act.
The wife of detained MQM leader approached the SHC requesting it to direct the authorities concerned to arrange Pasha’s meeting with his family. While hearing the petition, the SHC bench directed authorities concerned to arrange the meeting of MQM’s deputy convener with his family as per jail manual.
Rangers had arrested Pasha in a pre-dawn raid conducted at his house located in Gulistan-e-Johar on March 21, 2016. The paramilitary force had told Anti-Terrorism Court that they had credible information about suspects’ involvement in target killing and extortion cases.
