Naat and Qiraat competition held at Home Economic College

Chief Minister’s Provincial Level Naat and Qiraat Competition was held at Government College of Home Economics, Gulberg, Lahore.Minister for Population Welfare Begum Zakia Shahnawaz was the chief guest on the occasion. She was welcomed by Principal Prof. Dr. Samia Kalsoom.

The students belonging to various districts of Punjab contested the Naat and Qirat competitions. The participants recited Naats. The competitions included students from nine divisions including Lahore, Bahawalpur, Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Dera Ghazi Khan, Faisalabad, Sahiwal, Multan and Gujranwala.

The purpose of these competitions is to inculcate among the students a spirit to fight and compete at a larger level and rise above their limitations in the field of education. On this occasion, Minister for Population Welfare Begum Zakia Shahnawaz appreciated the Punjab chief minister for providing a forum to the students where they could display their hidden talents. She lauded the students and advised them to play their role in the development of the country. She urged the students to not forget their history and culture and always respect their elders.

Principal, Prof. Dr. Samia Kalsoom also spoke on the occasion and appreciated the students for participating in the competitions. Ch. Jahangir, Additional DPI (c.), Punjab, Lahore. Anwar Bashir, Assistant Director (c.), Lahore Division, Lahore, Shagufta Amin, Director Women, Section Officer, Higher Education Department, Rana Fayyaz, Director(c.), Sargodha, Principal, Govt. Postgraduate College for Women, Cooper Road, Lahore were also present on the occasion.

In Qiraat competition, Ayesha Bilal from Faisalabad bagged the first prize; second prize was clinched by Memoona Ashraf from Bahawalpur, while Khadija Mushtaq from Sargodha won the third prize. In Naat competition, first prize was bagged by Tatheer Fatima (Lahore), second prize was clinched by Mahnoor Nawaz (Gujranwala) while Areeba Jabeen from Faisalabad received the third prize. The Naat competitions were judged by Qari Mehboob Ahmad, Akhtar Quresh and  Jamshad Aza while Ahmad Mian Thanvi, Najam us Sabih and Muhammad Idress Azam were the judges for the Qiraat competitions. Certificates were awarded to all the participants in the end of the ceremony.
