Former military dictator General (r) Pervez Musharraf has thanked Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and the Supreme Court for removing his name from the Exit Control List.
Talking to a private news channel, Musharraf rejected rumours that the removal of his name from the ECL had resulted from a deal between him and the government, saying his name was removed from ECL on the court’s order.
He said that he was staying in Dubai for medical checkup and might travel to the United States of America for further treatment.
Musharraf denied reports that an All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) meeting was held in Dubai, saying he only met those who had come to receive him at the airport. “I am not doing any political activity in Dubai,” he added.
He said that he had appeared in courts many times to face cases against him and he was not afraid to go there.
He also denied the reports that he would not return to Pakistan and said he loved his country. The decision about his return would be taken as per doctors’ advice, he added.
