At least 35 Pakistani nationals have been held by Indian police in the desert state of Rajasthan for having incomplete documents, according to the Indian media reports.
The Pakistani nationals, who entered India through the Thar Desert via Munabav, were detained in Ramdevra District of Rajasthan.
The Indian authorities claimed that they have visa for Mathura and Haridwar but not for Ramdevra. The detained men were planning to visit the Baba Ramdev Temple where the Samadhi of Baba Ramdev stands.
It is reported that these people belong to Amarkot, Mirpur Khas and Tharparkar of Sindh province in Pakistan.
The arrests took place a day after Pakistan protested to India after capturing a man suspected of being an Indian spy, sparking a new diplomatic tiff between the neighbours.
The man belonging to India’s Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) intelligence agency was arrested during a raid in the southwestern province of Balochistan.
A foreign ministry statement described the incident as the “illegal entry into Pakistan by a RAW officer and his involvement in subversive activities in Balochistan and Karachi”.
It said the Indian High Commissioner had been summoned by the Foreign Secretary so he could convey his “protest and deep concern”.
