A fake pir allegedly burnt a man alive in Gujranwala while performing exorcism on him.
According to locals, Baba Sain Sarkar, tied 60-year-old Abdul Sattar, a resident of Gujranwala, to a charpoy and put him on burning coals in an attempt to cast out the djinn he was possessed by.
As Sattar was put on the burning coals, he started crying. His son Abubakar intervened to save him, but the pir scolded and abused him and turned him back. As a result, the 60-year-old was burnt to death.
Local police took the body into their custody and sent it to a hospital for medico-legal formalities. The police have registered a case against the fake pir who was at large till the filing of this report.
