National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Qamar Zaman Chaudhry has said that the anti-graft body was determined to eradicate corruption from the country.
While presiding over a meeting to review the performance of all divisions for the year 2015 at NAB Headquarters in Islamabad on Thursday, the NAB chairman directed all officers to work honestly, vigilantly and diligently in order to curb corruption and corrupt practices from the country, said a press release.
Chaudhry appreciated the Chairman Inspection and Monitoring Team (CI&MT) for its good work and said that there is always room for improvements. The Chairman NAB reiterated his firm resolve and said that NAB is committed to eradicate corruption by adopting Zero Tolerance Policy across the board in the country.
He directed Senior Member CI&MT to send the results of 2015 to all the Regional Bureaus and all Divisions of NAB Headquarter in order to further improve their performance on the basis of weaknesses or shortcomings pointed out by CI&MT during the inspection carried out in the current year.
Senior Member CI&MT informed that on the directions of chairman NAB, CI&MT was deputed to conduct annual inspection of all regional bureaus divisions of NAB headquarter to review and evaluate their performance for 2015.
Accordingly, CI&MT conducted annual inspection of all regional bureaus of NAB during January and February 2016 and highlighted their strengths and weaknesses on the basis of Partly Quantified Grading System (PQGS).
A Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) has been approved to rationalize the workload and timelines have been prescribed for efficient, effective and expeditious disposal of cases putting a maximum limit of 10 months- from complaint verification-to-inquiry-to-investigation and finally to a reference in the respective Accountability Court.
CI&MT also highlighted strengths and weaknesses of all divisions of NAB headquarter on the basis of the inspection report.
It was further informed in the meeting that operational arms of NAB are its regional bureaus which are involved in field operations i.e. conduct of complaint verification (CV), inquiries, investigations, Prosecutions of cases at trial and appellate stages.
