NA rejects proposal for allowing interest free loans to government employees

The House on Thursday rejected a resolution urging the government to take steps to fix minimum interest-free advance amount for house building at Rs 2 million for the government employees. The resolution was moved by Sajida Begum.

Parliamentary Secretary for Finance Rana Muhammad Afzal Khan told the House that loans are being given to government employees within the available resources and keeping in view the repayment capacity of the employees.

The National Assembly passed a unanimous resolution strongly condemning the terrorist attack in Brussels on Tuesday which took 34 lives with more than 200 others injured.

The resolution was moved by Shazia Marri who said that the world must stand united to combat the menace of terrorism and reaffirm its unwavering resolve to stop, by all means, every form of terrorism worldwide.

Minister for National Food Security and Research Sikandar Hayat Khan Bosan told the House that PASCO will procure one million tonnes of wheat this year from across the country.

Responding to points raised by Leader of the opposition Syed Khurshid Ahmad Shah, he said that last year PASCO procured 80,000 tonnes of wheat from Sindh which was a record.

He said efforts will be made to procure maximum amount of wheat from Sindh this year.
