- Passing-out parade of first batch of 700 officials of new force held
Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that the provincial government has taken a lead by setting up the Dolphin Force for the first time in the history of the country, and termed it a milestone for the Punjab Police.
The chief minister expressed these views at the passing-out parade of the first batch of 700 officials of the Dolphin Force at the Chung Police Training Centre.
Sharif said the Dolphin Force equipped with modern training was the new face of Punjab Police and would play an important role in maintaining peace in cities and villages of Punjab as well as controlling crimes especially street crime. “Dolphin Force will play a vanguard role in curbing street crime,” he said, adding that this force would strengthen the efforts of the Punjab Police to maintain peace in the province and root out crime.
The CM thanked Turk President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Prime Minister Ahmet Dawood Oglu, Interior Minister, Ambassador, Turkish National Police and people of Turkey for the cooperation extended by Turkey in providing modern training to the force.
He said that there were deep-rooted friendly, brotherly, cultural and historic relations between Turkey and Pakistan and both the countries had stood by each other in every hour of need.
He said that Turk brethren always referred to the assistance of Muslims of the Subcontinent in the freedom movement of Turkey while the people of Punjab could never forget the help and cooperation of their Turk brethren during floods and earthquakes. He said that this journey of friendship and cooperation between the two countries was continuing and their bilateral relations had turned into strong economic cooperation.
Sharif said that recruitments to all departments and police were being made on merit and the same policy had been adopted in recruitments to Dolphin Force. He said that training on modern lines had been imparted to the force and he was confident that it would not only protect but also adopt a decent attitude to the citizens. He said if the time came for fighting against criminals, the jawans of Dolphin Force would show exemplary courage and bravery. He said the force would make Punjab a haven of peace and a crime-free province.
Sharif congratulated the jawans of Dolphin Force, their parents, teachers and instructors on the passing-out of the first batch of the force. He said the nation had high hopes of this modern force that it would effectively safeguard the citizens as well as root out street crime.
He said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was to attend this ceremony but he could not reach due to his official engagements but he had sent a message of felicitations and expressed hope that this modern force would come up to the expectations of the government and the masses. He said that huge resources had been spent on setting up Dolphin Force.
Inspector General Police Mushtaq Sukhera, while addressing the ceremony, said that officials of Turk National Police had extended all-out cooperation in the setting up of this force and it had been imparted training on modern lines. He said that the passing-out of the first batch of 700 jawans of Dolphin Force was a historic day.
Turk Ambassador Sadik Babur Girgin, while speaking on the occasion, said that friendship between Pakistan and Turkey was everlasting and there was a strong bond of brotherhood between the people of the two countries.
