Minister for National Food Security and Research Sikandar Hayat Khan Bosan presided over a meeting on Thursday to review the status of subsidy on phosphate fertilizer and decided to formulate a sub-committee for quick implementation of the scheme. Dealers, members of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and importers attended the meeting.

The minister inquired about the availability of subsidised fertilizers and told the participants that the government wanted that the scheme should directly benefit the farmers and the dealers and middlemen should not exploit the poor farmers. He also expressed his resolve to further extend the scheme.
The participants put forward various proposals to implement the scheme across the country. The minister welcomed the suggestions and resolved that these proposals would be discussed in future meetings in this regard.
