Ebad lauds ANF efforts for drug abuse eradication

Sindh Governor Dr lshratul Ebad said on Wednesday that the hospital established in Lyari by the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) for rehabilitation of drug addicts was doing a tremendous job.

Addressing an event organised by the ANF in connection with Pakistan Day, Ebad said there was an urgent need to inform society about the ill-effects of drugs so as to prevent all vulnerable groups specially youth from this menace.

The governor said that the revival and rehabilitation of drug addicts and making them useful citizen of society was an enormous task for which the efforts of the ANF were commendable.

The ANF, he said, was also doing a tremendous job of eradicating the menace of drugs from society by preventing its smuggling and arresting the culprits involved in this heinous act.

He said that the Model Addiction Treatment and Rehabilitation Centre (MATRC) was an exemplary institution with regards to rehabilitation of drug addicts.

The plan to expand the hospital and construct separate female and children drug addict wards was the need of the hour and by construction of the same this centre would become the only such facility throughout Pakistan, said Ebad, adding that the government would provide half of its cost to facilitate its completion. The governor also asked philanthropists to contribute generously in this noble cause.

Senior Minister for Education Nisar Ahmed Khohro, ANF Director General Major General Nasir Dilawar Shah, Sindh Police chief AD Khawaja, ANF Sindh Force Commander Brig Abu Zar, TDAP CEO SM Muneer and renowned Industrialist Sardar Yasin Malik were also present on the occasion.
