Tribal women, including a non-Muslim girl, have called for annulling Frontier Crimes Regulation (FCR) so they can enjoy the same freedom that the people of settled areas do.

They termed the FCR black law adding that women are the victims of the draconian law as much as men. They were speaking at a news conference in connection with 23rd March here at Press Club on Tuesday. The conference was organised by Taqrha Qabaili Khwaendey (TQK), translated as brave tribal sisters.

Women from tribal agencies including Kuram, Mohmand, South Waziristan, Bajaur, Orakzai Agencies participated in the press conference while a woman from North Waziristan could not attend the conference due to her illness.

Those who spoke on the occasion include Shahida Shah, a convener of TQK, Fatima, Nausheen, Nasihat Bibi, Sakeena Rahman, Kanwal and others, who expressed their concerns over FCR, which they termed draconian. All basic human rights are curbed under the FCR, they said.
